The Good, The Bad and The Inconsequential

These are some (?...I seem to have no sense of magnitude) of the movies that I have really enjoyed watching. Most of these are from IMDB's list of top movies of all-time, but then there are others like American Psycho that are not. There are some great movies like Citizen Kane or Casablanca that I didn't enjoy all that much. Some others like Traffic or Lawrence of Arabia I have yet to see. I am sure your favorite movies would be in this list too! I am also certain that I have missed some that I'll append to the list as I recall them later. I have't added Hindi movies because they are a class apart, and so would be in a separate list altogether. Just to remind (and intimidate) you - these are only a fraction of the movies that I have watched in the last few years!

So, I humbly present, in no particular order, a list of the movies on my all-time list of the most enjoyable movies (feel free to suggest any you think I have missed):

The Shawshank Redemption - Possibly my most favorite movie. It's one of those films where everything clicks together just right. I felt what the protagonist felt and the elation when he finally gets out is indescribable. Morgan Freeman was a class in himself. And Stephen King's script is too good!

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring - I was sceptic initially about an unknown film-maker like Peter Jackson being able to bring Tolkien's classic to life, but I was proven wrong and happily so! What can I say about this?

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - I never believed that things could be even better than Fellowship but Peter Jackson had an ace up his sleeve.

Lord of the Rings: The Return of The King

Schindler's List

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Girl, Interrupted

Dr Strangelove

The Usual Suspects

Pulp Fiction

Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain

The Silence of the Lambs

Life Is Beautiful

American Beauty

The Matrix

The Pianist

Fight Club

LA Confidential

The Maltese Falcon

Saving Private Ryan

American History X

Reservoir Dogs

Kill Bill - Vol 1

Kill Bill - Vol 2

The Sixth Sense

Forrest Gump

Shrek 2

The Straight Story

Mulholland Drive

The Lost Highway

Moulin Rouge

Twelve Monkeys

Duck Soup

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

The Untouchables

A Beautiful Mind

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

ET : The Extra Terrestrial

Natural Born Killers

American Pie (surprised to find this here?)

The Thomas Crown Affair

American Psycho

Dead Man Walking

As Good As It Gets

Road To Perdition

Scent of A Woman

The Others

The Sound of Music

The Hours

The Last of The Mohicans

Cidade de Deus

Billy Elliot

Enemy At The Gates

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas

Hotaru No Haka (Grave of the Fireflies)

The Dreamers

Whale Rider

The Godfather

Three Kings

Giving IMDB links to all of these would be slightly tiresome...I might do that if I feel like it some time later...and will also like to add comments for each of these, but that'll come in its own good time too.
